Accidental damage to your computer can be expensive to repair. The cost of repairing accidental damage can range anywhere from $300 to the total cost of your beloved computer. Whether your 3-year old daughter spills milk on the keyboard, or your high school son drops your Mac notebook on the pavement denting the corner and shattering the screen, your Mac can be protected!
If you have an insurance company that you love, we recommend calling your agent for details about specific policies regarding your computer. But, if you don’t have an insurance company or don’t love your insurance we recommend State Farm.
State Farm has a Personal Articles Policy that you can purchase for your computer, even if you don’t carry any other policies with them. For a $2,000 computer this policy costs less than $50 per year. With this coverage you have a limited deductible to no deductible. This policy does not cover maintenance or normal wear and tear, nor does it cover iPods or iPads. But if you have children or frequently carry your computer with you we recommend insuring your computer.
If you already have homeowners insurance or renters insurance your computer is covered against most disasters to your home in which your computer is also damaged, like a fire or pipes freezing and flooding the basement. However, without a Personal Articles Policy your computer is not covered against drops, spills, or other accidental damage.
